From a Dream at 20 to Tacoma's Vietnamese Destination
Tuan dreamed of opening a bar since he was 20 years old. That dream became reality in 2017 with La Cà Bar on 6th Avenue—not just a bar, but a place where Vietnamese food meets late-night hospitality.
Growing up in Vietnam, Tuan learned that dining is more than a meal—it's about gathering, staying late, and enjoying the moment. "In Vietnam, you go out with friends and you come home late," he recalls. "I wanted a restaurant where people can be like that."
Today, three restaurants carry forward that vision: La Cà Bar for late-night gatherings, La Cà Café for students and families, and La Cà 38th for elevated Central Vietnamese cuisine. Each location reflects Tuan's daily commitment: "I wake up every day, come to the restaurant, and cook. I make sure my staff is doing a good job. I make sure I like the food."
"My family is the one that makes me work harder. I want to provide for them. For the business, you have to work hard."
